Radiesse wrinkle filler's unique formulation stimulates the production of new collagen, which results in increased volume for natural looking wrinkle correction that may last up to a year in many patients.
Radiesse is FDA approved injectable fillerwhich is made of a synthetic substance containing microspheres of calcium hydroxylapetite, which is an inorganic substance similar to bone. No animals or animal products are used during its production, and no skin testing is needed. There are no allergic reactions associated with this filler.
When injected into the deep dermis and subcutis, Radiesse provides a matrix into which the body's own tissue can grow and add volume. In this way, it is used for soft tissue augmentation (e.g. adds volume to lips and cheeks), and can help to fill in deep skin folds and wrinkles.

How does Radiesse work?
The Radiesse treatment is performed by injecting the Radiesse underneath the wrinkle or fold or over the area that needs enhancement. Treatments with Radiesse take about 15-30 minutes. Patients return to work or home immediately after the Radiesse injections are finished. The results of a Radiesse treatment can be seen immediately.
Radiesse works below the skin�s surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a �scaffold� to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen to create a natural, full, youthful look. Radiesse � does more than just temporarily fill-in facial lines and wrinkles, it rebuilds your skin�s foundation, without the risks associated with permanent fillers.
Post Treatment Instructions- Radiesse
- Do not massage or otherwise manipulate the area injected
- Use Tylenol as needed for any soreness.
- A topical cold pack may be applied as needed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for a day. Avoid extensive sun or heat exposure for the same time period.
- Avoid dental work for 2 weeks if the nasolabial or marionette regions have been injected.
- Avoid sleeping on your stomach for 2 weeks. Sleeping on your side is fine.
- Aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication use can be resumes at 2 days post injection.
- Over time the injected area will feel softer, more and more like your own tissues.
- Minimize for 48 hours any activities that cause the facial muscles to move excessively or dramatically, such as drinking through straws, laughing, yelling, chewing gum or very chewy foods, and so forth.
What are the precautions that come with Radiesse treatment?
We ask our patients to avoid certain medications for a week prior to treatment. These include aspirin, non-steriod anti-inflammatory medicines, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements. These medications could increase bruising and bleeding.
Consuming alcohol leading up to your Radiesse treatment could affect the blood flow and circulation in your body. This might make the treatment less effective.
We cannot provide Radiesse injections on a site that is experiencing an infection.
It has not been determined whether Radiesse is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or by persons under 18 years of age.
Are there any side-effects?
There are few reported side effects and those reported are commonly associated with injection of filler materials.
These may include swelling, bruising, pain, itching and tenderness at the injection site.
These conditions typically resolve on their own within a few.
In rare cases a patient may experience tiny calcium deposits that may rise to the surface of the skin and appear like small white bumps.
If this occurs the deposits can easily be excised and removed. The longest term studies with this product have been done in Italy.
Test results from Italy suggest that Radiesse shows promise as a new agent for facial contouring with no serious side effects and reasonable efficacy and durability.
Possible side effects of Restylane
The rate of reactions to Restylane is very low. However, after the treatment some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within a few days after injection into the skin and within a week after the injection into the lips. Also, small bumps of Restylane may be palpated at the site of injection. These bumps are not usually visible, but can remain for several weeks or months after injection before gradually blending into the dermis.
How long can I expect the results of Radiesse to last?
Results will vary, but patients can generally expect the results of Radiesse to last for one year, though some patients do experience longer-lasting results.
What other things do I need to know?
The Microspheres in Radiesse can be seen in X-rays and CT Scans. It is very important that you inform your doctor and other health care professionals that you have Radiesse injected in your face. Even though Radiesse can be seen in X-rays and CT Scans, there is not a high risk that it would cause your doctor concern, as long as s/he knows that you have had Radiesse injected in your face.
